Drawing inspiration from famous pulp illustrator Virgil Finlay, this was the first image to incorporate what my friend Ben Wolstenholme dubbed ‘Sharpy crackle’, a variation on the famous ‘Kirby crackle’ employed by the legendary Jack Kirby to denote cosmic energies!
I really enjoyed embedding the shape of a lantern into this image. Very satisfying!
